Ramrock Records are very proud to present Leo Pesci’s second release, ‘Dario’s Pummarola’ from the London based Italian Jazz artist’s outstanding 2023 LP, ‘Impolite’. Already supported by Dom Servini on his JAZZ FM show, ‘Dario’s Pummarola’ was inspired by Yussef Dayes and Kamaal Williams' revolutionary 'Black Focus' LP. Leo tried to recreate the flavour of those vibes by delivering his lyrics in Neapolitan, his primary language and mixing UK jazz tradition together with Italian Neapolitan folklore. It’s a hymn to Leo Pesci’s roots and those of featured drummer, Dario Scotti, born in the UK with a Neapolitan dad. The No’West crew take the track and add a few jazzy flourishes to compliment the essence of the original vocal, along with a Dub and Instrumental.

Leo says: ‘We were in studio, at the end of the recording session, and I asked Dario to play the first cool tempo that came to mind. The day after, I was at home composing something following that tempo and imaging who I could get to be featured as the main artist. The answer came when I saw a post by John Swana on my Instagram account. John, a legend of the American jazz scene, has played with Miles Davis in the 70’s and developed the EVI – electronic valve instrument – as his signature instrument. I messaged him and the deal was struck'. The track ft. Leo Pesci (vocals, keys), John Swana (E.V.I. – electronic valve instrument), Dario Scotti (drums), Vincenzo De Fraia (bass, synth, keys). Produced by Leo Pesci and Vincenzo De Fraia.
