As Rhythm and Blues goes, this fabulous track doesn’t get any better. 'Hurt Walks Out The Door' is a collaboration between Detroit music legend, Marcus Malone and Dan Smith of The Noisettes taken from their awesome new collaborative long player, ‘Interstate 75’, on Ramrock Red Records. The track follows in the footsteps of those deep soul, heartwrenching, tear jerkin’ ballads popular in the 60's and 70's, joining up the musical dots between 60’s Stax, Motown and Cadet, creating an instantaneous authentic classic vibe. All of Marcus's previous releases from his ‘Interstate 75’ album have been championed by Craig Charles on his BBC 6 Music 'Funk and Soul' radio show – and Mr Charles knows a thing or two about good music.

Growing up in Detroit, Michigan meant that Marcus Malone has always been open to musical diversity. One time member of Mitch Rider’s ‘Detroit Wheels’, he hung out with the MC5, opened for Bob Seger and Iggy Pop before Ike Turner’s management moved him to LA, signing with United Artists Records and Motown Records producing an all-black original rock band for the label. Marcus has worked with Maceo Parker, Jocelyn Brown, Phillip Bailey and Nile Rodgers. As a supreme vocal stylist, Marcus’s soulfully phrased lyrics saw him nominated in 2014 for Best Recorded Session + in 2017 for Best Album for ‘A Better Man’ by European Blues Awards. Marcus Malone and Dan Smith first met at a Blues jam night in Croydon in the early ‘00s with Dan joining Marcus’ band + featuring on his albums ‘Walking Shoes’ (2002) + ‘Blue Radio’ (2003). Dan also founded the internationally acclaimed group, The Noisettes, with stunning vocalist, Shingai Shoniwa. Their hit single, ‘Don’t Upset the Rhythm’ featured on a Mazda TV advert and went on to claim the No 2 position on the UK charts.
