The insanely high level of musicianship means we’re talking exquisitely, phat New Orleans ‘in ya face’ brass, we’re talking huge lead vocals from the fabulous Lisa Millett, we’re talking about the keyboard skills of disco legend Gary Davis, we’re talking gettin’ down and dirty – we’re talking King Brasstards literally blowing their own horns….

The North Street West crew take the funk and run with it adding additional keys, underpinning the rhythm with Darren Morris’s compelling Rhodes chords whilst Ashley Beedle and Jo Wallace slip in a bit of go-go drum pattern for good measure.

Since their beginnings as a busking outfit on the streets of Leicester in 2015, King Brasstards have taken the live music scene by storm, appearing at Camp Bestival, Wilderness Festival and many more with their entertaining brand of funk, swing, jazz and latin. The band, fronted by two charismatic singers, Gareth John & Spencer Hague, who double up on trumpet and trombone respectively, also features saxophone virtuoso, Ryan West and fiery trumpet maestro Dave Collins, all backed up massively by Steve ‘Sousaphone’ Nutter, co-founder of the band and a rocking rhythm section of Dave Anderson, former drummer with Diesel Park West among others, and percussionist Marv Robinson.
Collaborating on a regular basis with stars from the funk, house, jazz and hip-hop worlds on original material, King Brasstards are currently nearing completion on their third full album, due for release in early 2022. Not only are they enthralling to watch live (promoters – please take note), but their music is regularly featured on BBC 6Music, BBC Radio 3 and a myriad of radio stations.
