Ramrock Records launch their new Balearic/Jazz label Ramrock Red with ‘Lazy Bones’ by Future Unit. London based composer and producer Remy Felix Vas aka Future Unit, saw his vinyl debuts released on the highly boutique and influential Porn Wax and Tusk Wax labels in 2016.
Praise for ‘Pegasus’ (Tusk Wax 20)
‘’The plaudits should be saved however for the mysterious Future Unit, who marks his debut with the slow motion acid funk of “Pegasus”, a total mind melter if ever I’ve heard one.’’ – The Vinyl Factory, May 2016
Praise for ‘Man From the South’ (Porn Wax 11)
‘’The slow motion magic continues on the flip as Future Unit hits us with the lysergic brilliance of "Man From The South", a tripped out bit of space disco for all the acid casualties out there. Corrosive sequences, tasty funk touches and a big whacking Carpenter-esque bassline make for a full scale party jam here. It's official, Future Unit's the effin man!’’ Piccadilly Records, Manchester, July 2016
‘Lazy Bones’ will be Future Unit’s third release. It started with Bill Brewster playing it on his weekly podcast and next THE Ashley Beedle is shouting its Balearic brilliance from the twitter rooftops!
The original combines an insistent 70’s Italian library music inspired hook with crunchy beats and cosmic synths. Paired with slacker lyrics, it’s your unofficial alternative summer soundtrack; baggy guitars, eclectic electronica, loose, uplifting sounds, fat, acid basslines and insistent, earworm melodies.
Remixes come from three highly respected remixers, all drawn to the original through social media word of mouth.
Iberian edits supremo James Rod takes the lazy hazy beats of the original, plumps and pumps them, adds in washes of reverb, bubbly synths and a general feeling of mañana!
No introductions needed for Ashley Beedle who takes the playfulness of the original vocal and adds a nice thick slice of deft Rhodes work and funk drumming. The outcome? A lazy day in 70’s San-Fran, looking at the Golden Gate bridge through an acid haze!
Rubberlips' remix takes the original into big soundscape territory recalling Manc legends World Of Twist. The laid back vibe of the original is taken to a sun lounger for a cocktail and a psychedelic or two with added bass from Randy Martin.
The original and all remixes will be available both digitally and on limited edition 12" vinyl (though huge initial interest means a possible repress) through Ramrock Red Records.
