Ramrock Red Records are delighted to announce that LA Hip Hop duo, Substance Abuse are back with their brand new follow up to their classic 2019 release, ‘Bridges’ that featured North Street remixes. They’ve teamed up with legendary emcee and MF Doom affiliate, Kurious to drop ‘Don't Add Me’, a scathing yet humorous take down of social media over a jazzy, smooth backdrop produced by West Coast beat maestro Taso. In an era where people prioritize "likes" over quality. Subz and Eso Tre are here to ensure that "Substance" doesn't get lost in the shuffle.

Together, Subz and Eso Tre are L.A. duo Substance Abuse. Raised in the ways of old school hip hop, the dynamic duo met in 5th grade, and whilst listening to groups like Run DMC and Public Enemy, the two cultivated their freestyle skills in the hills of the Santa Monica Canyon becoming proficient at the art of rhyming off the top of their heads. By the late 90’s, Eso Tre met super producer NO in college in Santa Barbara, fascinated by his jazzy, abstract, psychedelic style of beat making. Subz, Eso Tre and NO decided to make an EP called Substance Abuse, (later deciding that would be a better name for their group), which became the B-Side of ‘Brand New Crime’. Their real break came in 2001, signing to Ground Control records but eventually linked with the legendary Kutmasta Kurt and dropped their debut 4 star album, ‘Overproof’ on Threshold Recordings, featuring a host of insanely iconic hip hop artist including Kool Keith and MF Doom. The LP received four stars in URB and Scratch swiftly followed by the ‘Background Music’ LP ft. Tash, Sadat X, and KRS-One amongst others. Their most recent release, ‘Super Villain Team Up’ is a brilliant collab with MF Doom and Kutmasta Kurt.
