‘Adjust like Dat’ is Joseph Malik's third single taken from his forthcoming ‘Proxima Ebony’ LP and his dedication to his father, Francis Ukachukwu Malik. Joseph’s father was a huge Fela Kuti fan and would visit Fela's club shrine in Nigeria and it was these stories that fuelled Joseph’s mind to create the Naija Boogie track, ‘Adjust like Dat’. On the track, Joseph adds his blend of Nigerian patois lyrics over Darren Morris’s incredible funk interpolation of Norman Harris’s 1981 classic, ‘In Good Faith’. All instrumentation was played in and programmed by Darren and label boss, Jo Wallace jumped in on backing vocals. To reinforce Joseph’s pride for his Nigerian roots, he decided that he would wear traditional Nigerian dress and Igbo tribal colours on the release’s artwork, with photography by fellow Blacka’nized member, Andre Hudson.
